Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The stars were out at Fall Classic.
USA Lacrosse hosted the two-day Fall Classic last weekend, featuring the U.S. men’s and women’s national teams facing off with Canada, Boston College and Virginia. After the fanfare surrounding Fall Classic, both the U.S. national teams went 2-0 on the weekend.
The U.S. men opened Fall Classic with an 11-5 victory over rival Canada, where Rob Pannell dropped four points to lead his team. Grant Ament dropped a hat trick on Saturday, helping the U.S. hold off a rally from NCAA champion Virginia, which ended with a Jack Rowlett wraparound check.
The U.S. women, too, were tested en route to winning both games. Charlotte North turned in a few highlight-reel goals in Friday’s 19-3 win over Canada. Then, she dropped a couple more goals against her college team, Boston College, en route to the 13-5 victory.
2. The USA Select teams take home the Brogden Cup.
At the end of the two-day international competition, the U16 and U18 Boys and Girls Select teams got to celebrate with the historic Brogden Cup trophy.
