Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The U.S. men’s and women’s national teams defeated Maryland and North Carolina, respectively, in the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic this weekend in Sparks, Maryland.

The U.S. men got in three games, starting with the USA Men’s Showcase, an intra-squad exhibition Friday. Led by Grant Ament and Jack Hannah, USA Blue defeated USA White 10-7. On Saturday, split squads defeated Maryland 5-4 and 8-5. Hannah starred again with four assists in the finale.

Charlotte North scored five goals, as the U.S. women defeated North Carolina 13-7. It was the start of a new era for the U.S., fresh off winning its fourth straight world championship. Several marquee players have since retired.

2. USA Select U16 and U18 teams combined to go 15-1 over the weekend, winning their third straight Brogden Cup.

For the first time since renewing the series, however, it was not a clean sweep. Team Ontario and the USA Select U18 men staged a pair of thrillers. The U.S. rallied late to win 9-8 on Saturday before falling short in a 6-5 loss on Sunday.

3. Nine lacrosse greats joined the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame on Saturday.

Sheehan Stanwick Burch, Patty Daley, Jenny Levy, Ryan McClay, John Pirro, Tony Resch, Kris Snider, Steve Stenersen and Beth Stone were inducted as the Class of 2021 during a festive celebration at The Grand Lodge in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

They had to wait an extra year for their official recognition due to delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, but a sold-out gathering of more 400 attendees provided ample evidence that the inductees still had plenty of supporters.

4. Canada was just as active over the weekend.

A loaded Canadian men’s national team lineup also squared off in an intra-squad scrimmage, then split up to sweep Albany, Denver, St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph’s in Oshawa, Ontario, to begin its preparation for the 2023 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship.

Canada also prevailed in the World Lacrosse Super Sixes women’s event with a 17-4 win over the Haudenosaunee on Sunday. Coverage: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3
