Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. A study on the effectiveness of headgear in preventing concussions in women’s lacrosse was released on Friday. In the three-year study, partially funded by USA Lacrosse, researchers reported a 59 percent greater incidence of concussion in players not wearing headgear.
2. Pitt has spent a long time building towards its NCAA women’s lacrosse debut and the result is a very talented roster. The Panthers have utilized the NCAA transfer portal, traditional high school reporting and players from its club program, which won the 2019 USA Lacrosse WCLA championship.
3. USA Lacrosse headquarters will be buzzing with national team activity the next two weekends. This weekend features the USA Lacrosse Fall Classic with the U.S and Canadian men’s and women’s teams, along with reigning NCAA champions Boston College and Virginia.
Next weekend sees the World Lacrosse Super Sixes event. The U.S. rosters were released earlier and the Iroquois Nationals dropped its men’s roster on Friday.
