Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Cole Kirst and Shane Knobloch rose to the challenge this weekend.

Playing in an international scrimmage with the U21 men’s national team against North Carolina in Columbus, Ohio, Kirst and Knobloch led the U.S. to a 10-6 win while notable U21 stars Pat Kavanagh, Brennan O’Neill, Lance Tillman, Cole Herbert and Graham Bundy Jr. were out for the weekend.

Knobloch was one of six newcomers who joined the U21 team this weekend as it gears up for next year’s U21 world championship in Ireland. The others were Kenny Brower, Greg Campisi, Peter Lehman, Charlie O’Connor and Danny Parker.

2. The message is simple and clear from athletes at James Madison.

The Sun Belt Conference announced Saturday it would be adding James Madison no later than July 1, 2023, meaning JMU teams will not be permitted to compete for CAA championships this season, according to conference bylaws.

It is unclear what this means for James Madison’s lacrosse team, which won the national championship in 2018 and has been a force in the CAA since earlier than that.

3. Bill Wolford, a 2015 inductee of the Ohio Chapter of the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame, has died.

Friends, family and former athletes of the revered coach poured in on social media, as people recalled his generosity, ability to teach and his impact on the game.
