Good morning. Happy Veterans Day, and thank you to all the brave men and women that have served and continue to serve our great country! Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Boston College two-sport star Kenzie Kent is all in on lacrosse.
The 2017 NCAA tournament’s Most Outstanding Player — the first in the history of the award from the runner-up — scored an NCAA-record 37 points in the tournament to lead the Eagles to their first national championship game. They returned to the NCAA final last season sans Kent, who redshirted to focus on her final season of hockey eligibility.
With hockey in the past, Kent participated in her first fall lacrosse season, working on some apparent holes in her game alongside reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Sam Apuzzo and Dempsey Arsenault. The results this spring may be scary good for a program poised to overcome the last hurdle in the way of a national championship.
2. That’s not the only BC lacrosse news.
ESPN’s “College Gameday” football pregame show was on campus for the Clemson-BC game, and reporter Maria Taylor spent some time with Eagles coach Acacia Walker-Weinstein and 2018 Tewaaraton Award winner Sam Apuzzo.
3. Much can be learned from kids’ games, like follow the leader.
The popular kids’ game forms a basis for a physical literacy drill that’s part of the Lacrosse Athlete Development Model. Check out the how’s and why’s in this article from the November edition of US Lacrosse Magazine.
4. Veterans Day was yesterday and is observed today by many government agencies and American businesses.
Here’s a sample of how the lacrosse community honored our servicemen and servicewomen past and present.
