Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. In Division I men’s lacrosse, unranked Penn and No. 6 Penn State secured Top 20 upsets on Friday, No. 18 Rutgers regained bragging rights on Saturday and No. 2 Cornell rebounded to throttle No. 1 Towson on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions defeated Cornell 19-13 and the Quakers escaped No. 13 Villanova 13-11. Scarlet Knights keeper Max Edelmann recorded a career-high 18 saves, including one with just six seconds left, to top Princeton 9-8. Then, the Big Red handed the Tigers their first loss of the year in the Crown Lacrosse Classic thanks to a career-high eight goals from Clarke Petterson. 

Plus, Tehoka Nanticoke did not play in Albany’s loss to Maryland due to a “team thing,” according to Great Danes coach Scott Marr. “No need for the public to know.”

2. In Division I women’s lacrosse, unranked Colorado shocked No. 14 Stanford Friday, No. 2 Maryland recorded another thrilling overtime victory on Saturday and No. 11 Michigan, No. 15 Duke and No. 6 James Madison avoided upsets on Sunday. 

Opening Pac-12 play, the Buffs made a statement against the Cardinal with a commanding 20-13 victory in their 100th game as a program. The Terps stayed undefeated, topping No. 4 Syracuse 12-11 thanks to Kali Hartshorn’s game-winner. Then, Michigan also remained unbeaten with a 12-11 win over Towson, while the Blue Devils downed Louisville 11-10 in double overtime and the Dukes topped Rutgers 10-7.

3. In Saturday’s MLL Draft, Towson faceoff specialist Alex Woodall went first overall to Ohio. 

The first round of picks also featured:

  • High Point’s Tim Troutner to Florida, 

  • Towson’s Zach Goodrich and Maryland’s Austin Henningson to Boston, 

  • Virginia’s Ryan Conrad to Charlotte, 

  • Sacred Heart’s Max Tuttle to Denver, 

  • Loyola’s Pat Spencer to Chesapeake, 

  • Penn State’s Chris Sabia to Dallas, and 

  • Georgetown’s Daniel Bucaro to Denver. 

4. The PLL and WPLL joined forces, announcing Friday a doubleheader in Baltimore on June 22-23.

“Bringing the best talent from the men’s and women’s game is going to be a thrill for lacrosse fans all over,” WPLL CEO Michele DeJuliis said. 

4. In Week 13 of the NLL, Buffalo downed Philadelphia 12-11, Georgia topped Buffalo 14-9, San Diego defeated Colorado 13-10 and Calgary was victorious against Toronto 15-9.
