Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The U.S. women’s national team tryouts finished on Friday.

After three grueling days of tryouts featuring driving rain, a cicada invasion and actual lacrosse-relate challenges, the 60-plus players invited to the tryouts at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., have gone their separate ways.

Now the coaching staff and evaluators have their work cut out for them. They must trim down the incredibly talented pool of players, all of whom bring something different to the table.

2. Virginia Tech has found its next head coach.

A few weeks after John Sung and the Hokies parted ways, the university announced the hiring of Kristen Skiera. Skiera, a former Duke star, spent the past seven seasons as the head coach at Army.

Skiera led Army’s transition from club status to varsity status in 2015 and had the program have to an all-time great start in 2020 before the pandemic hit. The Black Knights regressed a bit in 2021, but Skiera’s work at West Point got her name into the mix for an ACC job.

3. The second weekend of Premier Lacrosse League action is in the books.

Chris Hogan made his professional lacrosse debut on Saturday for Cannons LC. He didn’t record any stats, but he helped the Cannons put up a strong showing against the two-time defending champion Whipsnakes — who ultimately came out on top in a close game.

• Graham Harden, a former Mariemont (Ohio) High Schools girls’ lacrosse head coach and boys’ assistant, died from ALS. He was 52. Scott Springer of the Cincinnati Enquirer with more on his life and legacy.
