Good morning. Here's the latest from the lacrosse world:

1. U.S. Women take silver at The World Games

A couple of late goals in the first half helped swing momentum and Canada pulled away from the United States in the fourth quarter for a 14-12 victory in the women’s final at The World Games.

2. Marcus Holman had himself a day at the Premier Lacrosse League All-Star Game.

Holman and Team Baptiste dominated Team Farrell 33-13 behind eight two-point goals. Marcus Holman had a game-high seven goals and later won the accuracy challenge in the skills competition. This play didn’t connect, but what a pass.

3. The race to San Diego is on.

The Pan-American Lacrosse Association (PALA) qualifying tournament for next year’s men’s World Lacrosse World Championship began yesterday in Medellin, Colombia.

Five teams — Colombia, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru and Puerto Rico — are competing for the four remaining spots from the region to the world championship. The U.S. Virgin Islands is also participating in the event, but ineligible to advance to the world championship.

Jamaica and Puerto Rico were opening day winners with Jamaica topping host Colombia 7-2 and Puerto Rico beating Mexico 10-5.

• ESPN has further enhanced its commitment to the sport of lacrosse with agreements with Athletes Unlimited, the National Lacrosse League, the Premier Lacrosse League and World Lacrosse over the last year.

• Wofford head coach Kim Eldridge announced her resignation on Friday.

• Former U.S. men’s team player and coach Kevin Cassese, the current men’s lacrosse coach at Lehigh, has been inducted into the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame.

• Former Maryland player and Towson assistant Shanna Brady has been hired as the defensive coordinator for the women’s lacrosse program at Penn State.

• The Atlantic Sun has released its women’s conference schedule for 2023.

Athletes Unlimited begins its 2022 season on Thursday at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. The opening week captains are Sam Apuzzo, Kady Glynn, Britt Read and Caylee Waters. The first week draft takes place tonight at 7 p.m.
