Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The New York Riptide and (new) Rochester Knighthawks each won its first game in franchise history Saturday, highlighting a busy weekend of National Lacrosse League action.

Gale Thorpe scored off a turnover in the final seconds of regulation and Dan MacRae won it in overtime for the Riptide, who defeated the Georgia Swarm 13-12 at NYCB Live.

Curtis Knight scored two crucial goals late in the fourth quarter, finishing with six points (three goals, three assists) in the Knighthawks’ 13-12 win over the Calgary Roughnecks at Blue Cross Arena.

In other NLL results:

  • The Halifax Thunderbirds remained undefeated with an 8-5 win Saturday over the San Diego Seals at Scotiabank Centre. Stephen Keogh scored three unanswered goals in the final 5:31 to help the Thunderbirds pull away.

  • The New England Black Wolves also remained unbeaten, defeating the Philadelphia Wings 8-7 in overtime at Mohegan Sun Arerna. Callum Crawford dove to score the game-winner and complete his hat trick.

  • The Buffalo Bandits scored six second-quarter goals and held off the Toronto Rock 10-8 on Saturday. The Rock had announced earlier in the day that Tom Schreiber was headed back to the injured reserve list with an upper body injury.

  • The Colorado Mammoth rebounded from a 7-5 loss to the Vancouver Warriors on Friday to double up the Saskatchewan Rush the next night, prevailing 12-6 at SaskTel Centre. Chris Wardle scored five goals, Eli McLaughlin had seven points (three goals, four assists), Ryan Lee doled out six assists and Dillon Ward made 53 saves in the win.

  • The Wings bounced back to defeat the Knighthawks 12-4 at Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, a contentious game in which the teams combined for 108 minutes in penalties.

2. Less than two weeks remain until opening day of the 2020 NCAA lacrosse season. The preseason ramp-up continued despite wintry weather across much of the country.
