Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Well, the Patriots won another Super Bowl. The game itself was one to forget, but lacrosse fans are celebrating another title for notable former lacrosse players Bill Belichick (Wesleyan), Chris Hogan (Penn State), Stephen Belichick (Rutgers), Brian Belichick (Trinity) and Mike Pellegrino (Johns Hopkins). Also, Premier Lacrosse League player Chris Mattes wins another Super Bowl as a Patriots assistant.

2. College lacrosse is back, folks.

Utah men’s lacrosse opened Division I play with its inaugural game at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City on Friday night. The Utes became the westernmost Division I program when it faced off against Vermont.

It was all Catamounts after the first whistle, as the visitors cruised to a 21-6 victory to spoil the celebration.

Saturday was the day of comebacks. Two players that were out for the 2018 season returned in style in victories.

Grant Ament, who missed the 2018 season with a foot injury, returned to action for Penn State and didn’t take long to make an impact. He scored three goals and added seven assists to lead the Nittany Lions to a 17-7 victory over a tough Villanova team. Goalie Colby Kneese made a career-high 19 saves and Gerard Arceri won 14 of 16 faceoffs fuel the victory.

Also back was Adam Charalambides, who missed both the 2017 and 2018 season with two separate ACL injuries. He scored four goals and dished out an assist to lead No. 14 Rutgers to the 14-8 win over Lafayette.
