Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Dox Aitken’s overtime heroics headlined men’s lacrosse competition over the weekend. Winning the opening faceoff, Aitken then lifted Virginia over Loyola with his game-winning goal for the 13-12 victory in double overtime.

Duke continued to roll thanks to Justin Guterding, who had four goals and five assists in a 19-8 win over Jacksonville. Reigning national champion Maryland downed Navy 10-4. Ohio State doesn’t seem to have missed a beat with a 15-9 victory over Boston University. Johns Hopkins handled Towson 14-6 in the rain.

2. Upset victories for James Madison and Towson highlighted the opening weekend for Division I women’s lacrosse.
Behind five goals each from Kristen Gaudian and Elena Romesburg, the No. 17 Dukes defeated No. 3 North Carolina 15-14 in double overtime, while the unranked Tigers topped No. 4 Penn State 14-13 thanks to an 11-5 lead at halftime.

WOMEN'S WEEKEND ROUNDUPS
3. Colorado and Florida played for Buffs senior Julia Sarcona on Sunday. Sarcona, 21, died in a car accident Jan. 13, and her friends, family and lacrosse community, including Bryant senior Madison McNally, honored her memory. The Gators won the game 16-9.
Forever in our hearts.

4. Arizona State, East Carolina and Wofford made their Division I women’s lacrosse debut over the weekend. Led by junior caption Kerri Clayton’s seven goals, the Sun Devils defeated Kennesaw State 14-6.
“It was our first game ever and our first game of the year so obviously there were some jitters, but I think Kerri’s leadership role took over where she was able to kind of settle the offense down and help them relax," said Arizona State head coach Courtney Martinez Connor.
The Pirates fell to George Washington 18-7 and the Terriers lost to Gardner-Webb 21-11.
5. Team USA goalie John Galloway demonstrates three drills youth and high school goalies can do to improve footwork, balance and hand-eye coordination – the six-inch explosion, the footie and the windmill.
6. Fred Opie spoke with seniors on the McDonogh (Md.) boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams about their experience in his weekly podcast, including Stanford commit Julia Cooper, Duke commit Maddie Jenner, Virginia commit Jack Simmons and Navy commit Jack Sweeney.
