Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Josh Hawkins, a LaxSportsNet host and former Boston Cannons midfielder, signed a one-year deal with the Denver Outlaws, the organization announced Thursday.

Hawkins, who filed for Player Movement earlier this offseason, tallied three goals, one assist and 30 ground balls for Boston last season.

In exchange for Hawkins, the Cannons received a third-round draft pick in 2018.

“Having Josh Hawkins joining us for the 2018 MLL season helps our team take a giant step towards another realistic shot at winning a third Steinfeld Trophy,” said Outlaws GM Tony Seaman.

“It’s just the right fit,” added Hawkins. “I’m at the point in my career where I want a ring.”

2. Will Manny, one of the blockbuster deals of the past MLL Trade Deadline, will remain with the New York Lizards after signing a one-year contract.

“I am very excited to be back with the Lizards for the 2018 season,” said Manny, a Massapequa, N.Y., native. “I want to thank Coach [Joe] Spallina or his trust in me and bringing me back to my roots.”

“Resigning Will,” Spallina said, “was a huge part of our offseason. He changed the complexion of our team the moment he put our jersey on.”

3. No Syracuse player will wear the iconic No. 22 this fall, said coach John Desko.

All-star players like Gary Gait, Dan Hardy, Cody Jamieson, JoJo Marasco and Casey Powell have all worn the number at various times.

"I want the players to go and play and not deal with the 22 thing,” Desko told Syracuse.com. “I think with 22, it’s an honor to wear that number. But with it comes some pressure to perform.”

The news outlet created a poll to ask fans what Syracuse should do with No. 22.

“It’s just resting up on the shelf waiting to be handed out,” LaxSportsNet host Josh Hawkins said. “I think this is the right move if you don’t have a clear-cut No. 1 recruit in the nation, a guy you’re expecting to be a leader on this team for four years, be a huge contributor and an All-American. Those are the type of accolades that this number is tied to. So for me, if there’s not a clear-cut guy, you just don’t give it to maybe the best player. You’ve got to be able to earn this.”

4. Ryan Brown, a U.S. training team member and Charlotte Hounds attackman, said the viral #NoAngleChallenge originated when he and Atlanta Blaze midfielder Deemer Class, tried it out with East Coast Dyes in August.

“It just kind of took off from there,” Brown said. “It’s just crazy how much this has blown up.”

5. Marie McCool, a North Carolina senior, is “hungry” for the 2018 season, she told LaxSportsNet Thursday after the Tar Heels released their 2018 schedule. She is using her experience winning two gold medals with the U.S. women’s national team over the summer to help fuel her leadership.

North Carolina's schedule features non-conference matches against Maryland, Florida and Northwestern. However, their home games will be played in the football stadium because Fetzer Field is under construction until the 2019 season.

“My last game on Fetzer Field, we lost in the quarterfinal [to Navy, 16-14],” McCool said. “It kind of upsets me a little bit, but at the same time, it’s an awesome experience to be able to play in the football stadium.”
