Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The Atlanta Blaze had a busy Thursday. The team made headlines by signing Matt Gibson to a two-year deal, according to Joe Keegan. In addition, the Blaze finalized a trade to send defenseman Christian Burgdorf to the Denver Outlaws for Eddy Glazener.

Gibson, the six-year veteran out of Yale, scored a career-high 26 goals and added seven assists for the New York Lizards in 2017. He scored 25 goals in 2015 to help the Lizards' to the MLL title.

He'll join a Blaze offense that includes Kevin Rice and James Pannell, who combined for 81 points last season.

  • In other MLL news, Ted Tseng, the senior director of business and team operations for the Outlaws, announced on Twitter that he is stepping down from his position to “pursue other opportunities.” Tseng joined the Outlaws as the director of sales and marketing in 2012 and has seen the team flourish. Denver made the MLL playoffs on five occasions, taking home the championship in an epic 2016 final.

2. Brandon Miller is really excited to meet Brandon Miller. The Canadian box goalie and member of the NLL’s Toronto Rock will suit up for the Heritage Cup against the U.S. national team on Oct. 21. In addition, he’ll be going up against another goalie with his namesake.

Goalie Brandon Miller, 23, has entered the fold for the U.S. national team’s roster ahead of the Heritage Cup. The younger Miller has spent time in the Senior B circuit, while the older Miller is a mainstay in the NLL.

3. Speaking of the Rock, the team announced Thursday that it re-signed both Tom Schreiber and Kieran McArdle to one-year contracts for the 2018 season.

Schreiber and McArdle came to the Rock as part of an influx of American talent entering the NLL ranks. Schreiber, named "Captain America" by fans, finished the 2017 season as Rookie of the Year, tallying 94 points (a rookie record), while McArdle ("The Enforcer") had 36 points on 17 goals and 19 assists.

Both Schreiber and McArdle will also suit up for the Heritage Cup next month, going up against their teammate in Miller.
