Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Siena women’s lacrosse players are publicly expressing their discontent with the firing of three-year head coach Bryana Borrelli, who went 18-33. Former Loyola star Abigail Rehfuss was recently hired as her replacement.
After hearing the news Oct. 4, sophomore midfielder Julia Sardella took to Facebook to voice her opinion.
“The heart of our program was stripped from us, based off an unknown, unexplained reason,” Sardella wrote. “Without any explanation, we were told that "change was made" two hours after we ended practice that day. Furthermore, we were told nothing sudden or unforeseen had happened that week or recently. Coach Borrelli, our assistant coaches, and all of my teammates were blindsided by this hasty action.”
Siena athletic director John D’Argenio provided the following statement:
“Siena College recently parted ways with former women’s lacrosse head coach Bryana Borrelli,” D’Argenio wrote to The Record after declining an interview request. “Due to College policy and in respect of the confidentiality and privacy of all parties involved, we cannot comment further on the reasons. While no time is ever ideal to make a coaching change, we are excited for Coach Rehfuss to lead our women’s lacrosse program.”

3. Salisbury coach Jim Berkman, the all-time winningest coach in NCAA men’s lacrosse history across all divisions, was named to the speaker lineup at the 2018 US Lacrosse Convention, set for Jan. 19-21 at the Baltimore Convention Center.
“The US Lacrosse Convention is a great event for coaches to learn and improve, and I’m honored to be selected as a speaker. I’m looking forward to it,” Berkman said.

He offers five key coaching tips based on his experience: stick skills matter, limit the dead time, players are not robots, individualize player development and learn from those around you.
