Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The cover of the April edition dropped yesterday, featuring an important package entitled, “What it Means to be Native in this Sport.”
2. In Division I women, No. 8 Northwestern defeated Penn State 19-11 in Big Ten play Thursday behind two seven-point performances from Selena Lasota (6G, 1A) and Izzy Scane (4G, 3A), plus six points from Lindsey McKone (3G, 3A).
Brennan Dwyer led the Wildcats with 10 draw controls to aid in the 22-11 advantage in the midfield. PSU had a 20-17 edge in ground balls.
Northwestern used a strong first half, 12-5, to cushion a tight second period, during which the Nittany Lions played a close 7-6 battle in an attempt for a comeback.
3. In Division I men, Marquette is rounding into form after a loss to Cleveland State, Towson enters CAA play with turnover trouble and Virginia’s defense has taken big steps forward.
Plus, when Jacksonville upended High Point for its first ranked win, Dolphins coach John Galloway knew they were headed in the right direction. The Spence family is also spotlighted for Lehigh, having been catalysts for its five-game winning streak.
4. In Division III men, Salisbury is finding chemistry on offense despite its turnover, Denison enters the second stage of its season in NCAC play and upstart Williams could be a true challenger in NESCAC.
