Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1.  That was fun. Duke goalie Mike Adler made a last second save to preserve No. 1 Duke’s 15-14 victory over No. 5 Syracuse in a nationally-televised game on Thursday night. Nelson Rice with more from the thriller.

2. In women’s Top 20 lacrosse action on Thursday, No. 5 Stony Brook opened up a 7-1 lead on Long Island rival Hofstra and held off the Pride for a 12-8 victory behind four goals from Kailyn Hart and 12 saves from Kameron Halsall. No. 17 Drexel trailed Albany 8-5 at halftime, but stormed back behind Colleen Grady (pictured below) with four goals and five assists to post a 15-10 victory.

3. As expected, Lyle Thompson was the No. 1 overall pick in the Premier Lacrosse League entry draft and will join Cannons LC. The Denver Outlaws had nine players selected in the first two rounds. One of the players not selected was former NFL wide receiver Chris Hogan.

4. NCAA record-setting faceoff star TD Ierlan is expected to make his debut for Denver this weekend against Providence. Ierlan says it has been a “seamless transition” since joining the Pioneers.

5. Towson star Koby Smith lost his father when he was just 12 years old. Matt Hamilton goes deep with Smith whose goal is be the man his father envisioned.

6. Connecticut’s Sydney Watson is going from good to great in a spectacular 2021 campaign. She’s not forgetting where she came from and knows it helped her get where she is today.

7. There’s more to Blake Sitterly than the viral three-quarters of the field goal he scored. When his team needed him most, he stepped up and vastly exceeded expectations.

8. Two fifth-year senior captains went out with injury, but the Syracuse women’s lacrosse team hasn’t skipped a beat. “The [injury] situation was not what you would want, but the way that people have responded, they’ve really come into their own with the responsibilities given to them,” said Asa Goldstock.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• Lacrosse is back at Penn, even if it’s in a limited capacity. The school can play local, non-conference games beginning this weekend.

• High school lacrosse is back in many parts of the Northeast, but some teams are struggling to put together their usual competitive schedules.

• Virginia is still the reigning NCAA men’s lacrosse champion, but this year’s version of the Cavaliers find themselves looking for their first ACC win.

• A great story on the relationship between Maryland’s Brett Makar and his older brother, Keith, who is autistic.

• A pair of Los Angeles Loyola High boys’ lacrosse players, Henry Kupiec and Hudson O’Hanlon, co-founded a grocery delivery service to help out their neighbors during the pandemic.
