Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. TD Ierlan set NCAA single-season records for faceoff wins (359), winning percentage (79.1) and ground balls (254) while propelling Albany to its first final four, announced his transfer location — Yale. Yale ended Albany's season in the NCAA semifinals.
2. On the flip side of the ledger, Albany made a big hire in naming Katie Rowan as its new women's lacrosse coach. Rowan spent the last three years at Wagner, leading the Seahawks to a pair of NCAA tournament berths. Rowan is the all-time leading scorer in U.S. World Cup history with 69 career points after leading the U.S. to gold in 2009 and 2013. The former Syracuse star was an assistant at Albany from 2011-12.
3. The April issue of US Lacrosse Magazine featured several stories from people of color about their lacrosse journeys. Editor Matt DaSilva writes about the importance of sharing these stories.
4. It's a big week for teams in the bottom half of the MLL standings as they try to make a move. Atlanta (3-5) hosts league-leading Dallas (7-2), Florida (3-6) heads to Charlotte (6-3), Ohio (2-6) hosts Denver (5-4) in a rematch of last year's championship game and Boston (3-6) hosts New York (4-4). Chesapeake (6-2) is on a bye week.
5. The race on the Road to Delaware is heating up with seven qualifying events for the US Lacrosse Nationals slated for this weekend. Adrenaline, NXT and Bitter Lacrosse all held qualifiers last weekend.
