1. Get ready for a huge weekend of lacrosse! Major League Lacrosse will crown its 20th champion on Sunday and the Premier Lacrosse League Championship Series begins Saturday.

2. Connecticut and Philadelphia kept their Major League Lacrosse playoff hopes alive with big victories on Thursday. The regular season wraps up today and both games will factor into Saturday’s semifinal field.

3. Ben Rubeor is a peer to many of the guys he’ll be coaching with Atlas LC in the Premier Lacrosse League, but a track record of success has the Bulls thinking big this season.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• The Washington Post on the four Black players in Major League Lacrosse — Mark Ellis, Isaiah Davis-Allen, Kris Alleyne and Chad Toliver — raising awareness on racial incidents they’ve experienced in the sport.

• Inside Lacrosse’s Halley Griggs is reporting that the IWLCA is asking the NCAA to move the Sept. 1 date for initial contact with the Class of 2022 until next July.

• Princeton star Kyla Sears is considering taking the 2020-21 school year off, pushing her senior year to 2022.

• The Southern Ohio Chapter of US Lacrosse has recognized high school players with the Bob Scott and Jackie Pitts awards.

• The effects of college lacrosse, recruiting, rosters sizes and scholarships due to COVID-19 are wide ranging. Former Denver head coach Jamie Munro covers many of the scenarios.

• Kaeli Huff, who scored 86 goals in her USC career, will use her final season of eligibility on her native Long Island, playing at Stony Brook.
