Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. No Jared Bernhardt, no problem?

The Maryland Terrapins will find out this spring after the program’s all-time goals and points leader graduated and has since wowed on the gridiron for Ferris State.

“Now it’s got to be by committee,” coach John Tillman said. “It’s always comforting to have Jared, but in certain ways, it’s nice to say, ‘Hey, fellas, here’s your opportunity.’ We’re going to have to do it as a team.”

The Terps will still have plenty of options offensively, including key transfer Jonathan Donville (Cornell) and Keegan Khan (Villanova).

More here in Patrick Stevens’ preview.

2. The UNC women’s lacrosse team finds itself in a similar position after Katie Hoeg graduated with the program’s all-time points record. The Tar Heels will still be teeming with talent and have six players on the USA Lacrosse Magazine D-I Women’s Preseason All-American list.

Full preview here.

3. USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason D-II Women’s Player of the Year Peyton Romig tallied 32 goals last year for UIndy after scoring just twice as a freshman. Paul Ohanian wrote about Romig’s star turn here.

4. Ben McCreary is a true throwback.

The LeMoyne midfielder is also the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason D-II Men’s Preseason Player of the Year. Matt Hamilton detailed McCreary’s old school preferences and style of play here.

5. Charlie Cipriano announced his retirement yesterday after 10 years playing pro lacrosse. The Waterdogs’ goalie played for six teams in his pro career and won two championships in the MLL.

USA Lacrosse Magazine profiled Cipriano after he was selected in the PLL expansion draft by Waterdogs’ head coach Andy Copelan. The two reunited after leading Fairfield to a program-record 12 wins in 2012.
