Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The US Lacrosse Convention and Fan Fest (LaxCon) will welcome an anticipated 7,000 lacrosse coaches, officials, leaders, industry representatives and fans to the Baltimore Convention Center tomorrow through Sunday for a weekend of professional development, networking, demonstrations and fun.

2. Chris Robinson, architect of the nation’s most successful high school program, is leaving the McDonogh (Md.) girls program after winning a national record 177 consecutive games and eight straight Nike/US Lacrosse No. 1 national rankings.

3. Kevin Conry and Hannah Nielsen have taken over as the head coaches at the University of Michigan, and have set lofty ambitions. A look at some of the new regimes in college lacrosse.

4. Six years ago Loyola won a NCAA Division I men’s title that was fueled by a dynamic defensive midfield group. Can the Greyhounds find that magic again in 2018? Loyola is No. 12 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine preseason rankings.

5. A torn ACL in a late-season win over Princeton for Penn’s Caroline Cummings put a damper on the Quakers postseason hopes. Her return is just one reason the Quakers are ready for big things in 2018. They check in at No. 12 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Magazine preseason rankings.

6. Grand Canyon and St. Thomas are the teams to beat in the MCLA this year as they check in at No. 1 in the preseason polls for Division I and II, respectively.

WHAT WE’RE READING

• Kyle Devitte of Inside Lacrosse offers a first-timer survival guide for LaxCon.

• The Big East announced its spring television schedule and CBS Sports Network will carry four men’s lacrosse games, a regular season game between Denver and Providence on April 21, as well as the three league tournament games on the weekend of May 3-5.

  Two other Big East games were included in the release, an April 11 game between Marquette and Notre Dame on FS1, and the league’s women’s championship game on May 5 on FS2.

• Casey Rogers, the son of Syracuse assistant coach Lelan Rogers and a one-time Syracuse lacrosse commit, committed to play football at Nebraska on Tuesday under the regime of new Cornhusker head coach Scott Frost.

• Cool behind-the-scenes interactive look as Notre Dame’s men’s lacrosse team opens practice for the spring.

• Syracuse defenseman Tyson Bomberry says, “I just love hitting people.” Syracuse.com profiles the 6-foot-1, 225-pound enforcer.

• Five reasons why STX Lacrosse is on board with the Lacrosse Athlete Development Model.

• Davey Emala, who will be playing in the U.S. indoor Blue-White exhibition game on Saturday, has joined Lax Sports Network as an on-air analyst and contributor. He’ll be on the call for the network’s Feb. 3 game between Ohio State and Cleveland State.

• The Southern Conference is sponsoring women’s lacrosse for the first time this season and will hold its end-of-year league tournament at Mercer. On Thursday, the league looked into the future and named its future tournament sites with Furman in 2019, Central Michigan in 2020 and Mercer in 2021.

Warrior founder, Princeton All-American and former U.S. team player David Morrow reflects on his career after being named a 2018 NCAA Silver Anniversary Award recipient, including the time he tried to quit the team but was afraid to tell Bill Tierney.

Denver senior Trevor Baptiste, recently named the U.S. team roster for this summer’s world championship, has been dominating faceoffs for a long time.
