1. Count Maryland head men's lacrosse coach John Tillman among those excited for this weekend's US Lacrosse Convention. LaxCon 2021, a two-day all-virtual event, begins today.

2. The Premier Lacrosse League announced on Thursday that it will return to its tour-based model for 2021. This season is set to begin on June 4 with the championship planned for Sept. 19.

3. After a rebuilding year was cut short in 2020, Boston College is aiming to get back to a championship level. The Eagles are No. 17 in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason NCAA Division I women’s rankings.

4. Dan Chemotti has already built something pretty special in a relatively short time at the University of Richmond. The Spiders’ men’s program is No. 17 in the Nike/US Lacrosse preseason rankings.

5. Lacrosse is very central to Keith Doubman’s walk across America, as evidenced by the lacrosse stick coming out of his signature backpack. He started in Lewes, Del., on May 17 and our Nelson Rice caught up with him near Baker, Calif., earlier this week.

• Robert Morris is retiring the No. 43 jersey of Jack Toomb, who died last March.

• Massachusetts high school coaches are concerned about the potential elimination of key facets of the game, including draws and faceoffs, due to the COVID pandemic.

• Will Bowen, an honorable mention All-American defenseman, will play for North Carolina this season, but plans to go to grad school and play at Georgetown in 2022 according to Inside Lacrosse.

• Nothing is a certainty these days, but the Albany men’s lacrosse team hopes to open its 2021 season on Feb. 27.

• The NCAA has delayed making a decision of new name, image and likeness rules and also whether or not student-athletes will be given the chance to transfer and compete immediately.
