Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Jamie Ortega became North Carolina’s all-time leading scorer in the Tar Heels 15-5 win over Pitt on Thursday afternoon. Ortega finished with five points on three goals and two assists, giving her 373 for her career to break former teammate Katie Hoeg’s mark of 370.

2. The racial awakening in the summer of 2020 has fueled additional interest in Historically Black Colleges and Universities. That interest carriers over to the lacrosse field where the five HBCU varsity programs are continuing to build.
A few years ago, the idea of two HBCU programs facing off in lacrosse was an afterthought. In February, a scrimmage between @DSUlax and @udc_wlax brought forth a palpable energy.

3. Chris Brandau found success at both Georgetown and Maryland, but never the right fit. The standout goalie appears to have found his home at Division III Dickinson.
4. Catriona Barry’s shift from midfield to attack is paying out big dividends for the Duke women’s lacrosse team. Barry has 29 points in the Blue Devils first four games.
5. Five fifth-year seniors are part of the reason behind Hobart’s 2-0 start, highlighted by last weekend’s upset win over Lehigh.
6. An early season win over Jacksonville and a 3-0 start are the first steps to USC women’s lacrosse being back where it wants to be.
