Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. The Tewaaraton Foundation announced its initial Watch Lists for 2022.
In total, 51 men and 51 women were named as early candidates for the Tewaaraton Award, awarded annually to the top men’s and women’s lacrosse players in the country.
There will be additions to the Watch Lists on March 11 and April 1 before a field of 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees is determined on April 21. The finalists will be announced in early May.
Check out both Watch Lists here: MEN | WOMEN
2. Kevin Warne is uniquely himself.
In a piece originally written last May but repurposed and updated for our February 2022 magazine, Matt DaSilva tells the story of how Warne has turned around the Georgetown men’s lacrosse program.
“I give credit to Georgetown and their administration for allowing Kevin to be himself,” Navy head coach Joe Amplo said. “Because he’s everything that place needed.”

3. Harold "Hal" Ness, a longtime member of the USA Lacrosse board of directors and a founding member of USA Lacrosse's South Carolina Chapter, passed away last Sunday at his home in Pawleys Island, S.C. He was 94.
Originally from Baltimore, Ness moved to South Carolina upon retirement and became an advocate and catalyst for growing lacrosse in the state. He made numerous presentations about the sport to school principals and superintendents, which ultimately led to the adoption of many of the state's high school programs, as well as eventual state sanctioning. Ness was honored as the first inductee of the South Carolina Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2004.
Ness' family has requested that contributions of remembrance may be made to USA Lacrosse, 2 Loveton Circle, Sparks, Md. 21152.
