Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Welcome to college lacrosse, UNC Charlotte.

US Lacrosse Magazine broke the news on Thursday that UNC Charlotte will be adding women’s lacrosse as a varsity sport in the near future. The program is hoping to join the American Athletic Conference.

2. Ben Rubeor is taking over Atlas LC.

The former Virginia great has been looking for a pro lacrosse head coaching position, and Atlas LC hired Rubeor after his time as varsity coach and associate director of admissions at Thayer Academy (Braintree, MA). He replaces former coach John Paul, who stepped down following the season.

Rubeor has experience as an assistant with the MLL’s Boston Cannons and played in the league for seven seasons before retiring in 2015.

Atlas players showed their support on Twitter.

3. Our preseason rankings continue with Division III men’s and women’s.

After a historic season for Williams men’s lacrosse that almost resulted in an NCAA final appearance, the Ephs return nearly their entire offense in 2020. As a result, they earn the No. 1 spot in the Nike/USL Division III Men’s Preseason Top 20.

Middlebury returns to the top spot in the Nike/USL Division III Women’s Preseason Top 20 after taking home the 2019 national title. With three All-Americans back, Middlebury will be a force once again.

4. LaxCon is almost upon us, and now we have the weekend schedule.

Check out the full schedule for LaxCon in Philadelphia, which runs from Jan. 10-12.
