Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. Northwestern picked up an impressive Big Ten victory on Thursday night, getting four goals from Selena Lasota to down Michigan 14-11 and hand the Wolverines their second loss this season.

Lasota had two goals in a tight first half that ended with the teams tied at 5-5. Michigan got hot early in the second half, scoring five out of six goals to take a 10-8 lead with 11:52 left.

Northwestern responded with a run of five straight goals to take command of the game, fueled by this amazing assist from Lasota.

Also in women’s action, Penn State survived a 16-15 thriller with Johns Hopkins in a crucial Big Ten matchup.

The Nittany Lions led 13-8 with 21:50 left, but the Blue Jays mounted a five-goal rally to tie the game with 11 minutes left. Penn State scored three of four goals to seal the game, aided by the eventual game-winner from Kayla Brisolari with 1:51 remaining.

2. PLL is headed to Canada.

The league announced its third new site this week, adding Hamilton, Ontario and Tim Hortons Field to the list of sites for the inaugural season. The PLL will head to Hamilton from Aug. 17-18.

3. Colorado women’s lacrosse dealt with the death of Julia Sarcona early in 2018, and almost lost another of its own later that year. Freshman Aine Williams battled cryptogenic organizing pneumonia throughout the 2018 season — a condition that forced her into a medically induced coma.

Williams’ life almost ended in 2018, but she’s recovered and motivated to get back on the field for the Buffaloes. Read her amazing story, which appeared in our April edition of the magazine.

4. The NCAA revealed its regional rankings for the Division II women’s lacrosse tournament on Wednesday. Defending champion Le Moyne takes the top spot in the East Region, West Chester leads the Atlantic Region, unbeaten Regis is No. 1 in the Midwest and Florida Southern tops the South Region.

5. The Team Money lacrosse program is succeeding at all age groups, a testament to what Katie Bergey thinks is doing things the right way. That includes using the Lacrosse Athlete Development Model, which has helped kids in the Central Pennsylvania club stay engaged with the game.

6. The Center for Sport Science at US Lacrosse is a national hub for the study and improvement of safety and performance in lacrosse. Created in 2016, the Center is devoted to research, education, collaboration, policy development and best-practice guidelines that ensure the safety and wellness of lacrosse players.

• Baltimore City lacrosse will take part in a special day tomorrow at US Lacrosse Headquarters, where two city teams will battle after Hampton faces Bethany College.

• The IMLCA issued a statement supporting a statement made by Colorado Mesa's athletic department in reference to the men's lacrosse team's 52-0 win over Johnson and Wales.

• Two Section II athletes are giving a boost to the Syracuse women’s lacrosse team, which has impressed this season.

• Alleghany women’s lacrosse is overcoming injuries in the 2019 season, as it awaits the inaugural season of men’s lacrosse next year.

• Throwing it back to a profile of New York Lizards star Matt Gibson, who starred at Yale.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING

When Penn State meets Johns Hopkins this weekend, it will have a honorary captain Gavin leading the way. The team shared its appreciation for its friend.
