Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1.  Can we all just agree that Duke needs to play every Thursday night? For the third time in the last four weeks, the Blue Devils’ men’s lacrosse program played a nationally-televised Thursday night game and delivered a gem. This time the No. 4 Blue Devils went on the road and beat No. 2 Virginia in overtime, 13-12, on Joe Robertson’s goal.

2. A top five women’s showdown wasn’t as close as No. 5 Boston College won its seventh straight game, beating No. 4 Notre Dame 19-11 behind six points from U.S. U19 alum Belle Smith and four goals and 11 draw controls from Charlotte Smith. Earlier in the day, Rutgers beat Penn State 17-16, the Scarlet Knights first win over the Nittany Lions in program history.

3. Jamie Ortega, one of the leading candidates for this year’s Tewaaraton Award, revealed to Sheehan Stanwick Burch on this week’s Stick Drop podcast that she intends to return for another year at North Carolina in 2022.

4. Eddie Coombs died in a car accident after his freshman year at Marist College in 2011, but his legacy lives on.

5. The NCAA released its first RPI numbers for the 2021 men’s lacrosse season, but the numbers mean less than usual this year with limited non-conference schedules. Patrick Stevens breaks down the latest bracketology.

6. A team looking to help identify how good they really are is Georgetown. The Hoya men are 8-1 entering a rematch against the one team that handled them this season, Denver.

7. The Schneidereith quadruplets are finding the silver lining in the 2021 college lacrosse season after an emotional 2020.

8. The new Albany franchise in the National Lacrosse League will be called the FireWolves.
