The first round of the Atlantic 10 women’s lacrosse tournament was this afternoon in Amherst, Mass., setting up the semifinal matchups on Friday. The semifinal winners will square off Sunday for the A-10 championship.

Here’s who advanced to play another day.

DAVIDSON COMES BACK IN SECOND HALF

After just over 15 minutes of play, fourth-seeded Davidson looked like a team playing on its heels. Fifth-seeded Duquesne, a team it had just beaten handily three weeks ago, was out to a six-goal lead before Davidson could truly establish possession.

“Win the draw, rule the world,” color analyst Kylie Ohlmiller said on the broadcast.

Once Davidson ended Duquesne’s draw streak, the Wildcats were the ones ruling.

The Wildcats pitched a second-half shutout, and Emily Weld scored what proved to be the game-winner in the fourth quarter of a 10-7 Davidson win. Amanda Monahan made six of her seven saves to blank the Dukes in the third quarter.

Duquesne (7-8, 4-5 A-10) scored within the first 90 seconds and led 6-0 with goals from six different scorers. Davidson (13-4, 6-3 A-10) finally scored with 10:38 left in the second quarter when Julianna Carey scored on a high feed from Grace Fahey.

Carey scored the equalizer with 8:03 left in regulation. With one minute left and an 8-7 lead from Weld’s score, Davidson added two quick insurance goals — one each from Fahey and Gianna New.

Davidson takes on top-seeded UMass on Friday at 11 a.m. in the conference semifinals.

HAWKS DOMINATE COLONIALS

Riley Evans and Lauren Figura each produced five points in a game in which Saint Joseph’s maintained a consistent lead. The third-seeded Hawks topped sixth-seeded George Washington 15-9 to advance to Friday semifinals.

Saint Joseph’s (12-6) went into the half with a 6-2 lead and built a 9-3 advantage shortly thereafter. The Hawks ended the quarter with an 11-5 lead.

SJU dominated the team totals, leading 38-23 in shots, 22-17 on ground balls and 18-10 on draws. The Hawks were also perfect (19-for-19) on clears and forced George Washington (5-13) into 19 turnovers.

Next up is a matchup against second-seeded Richmond at 2 p.m. on Friday. Richmond topped the Hawks 21-7 on April 3.
