With the Northeast not yet in season, much of the Top 25 has not competed in 2018. However, there was enough action to warrant a new No. 1 in the national rankings. Previous No. 1 Landon (Md.) had its 23-game win streak snapped by St. John's on March 13, and as a result, Culver (Ind.) takes over after recording two blowouts last week. The Northeast will get into action in the coming days and weeks.

Mid-Atlantic Top 10

1. Calvert Hall (Md.), 4-1

The Cardinals opened the year with wins over teams from North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas. Jacob Kelly tallied 22 points through the first three games, including nine points against Westlake (Texas) on March 11. The only loss was an overtime defeat by Canadian powerhouse Hill Academy (Ontario). Previous: 2

2. Boys’ Latin (Md.), 3-0

The Lakers started their 2018 campaign with a 9-6 win over Haverford School (Pa.) and followed that up with wins over Florida powers Oxbridge Academy and St. Andrew’s. Matt Brandau scored eight goals in Boys’ Latin’s first two wins of the year. Previous: 4

3. Bullis (Md.), 3-1

Connor Shellenberger started his Bullis career with 16 points in the first three games. The Bulldogs posted wins over Calverton (Md.), Naval Academy Prep (R.I.) and St. Mary’s Ryken (Md.). The only loss was to Hill Academy at the end of the week. Previous: 6

4. Haverford School (Pa.), 2-1

Haverford scheduled four Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference teams to start their season. The Fords dropped the first game to Boys’ Latin but defeated McDonogh (Md.) and Gilman (Md.). They play St. Paul’s (Md.) later this week. Previous: 7

5. McDonogh (Md.), 3-1

The Eagles lost to Haverford School 12-7 in their opening game but rebounded with three-straight wins against Florida teams. They defeated defending Florida state champion St. Thomas Aquinas 8-5 to end their trip. Previous: 3

6. Landon (Md.), 3-1

Landon’s 23-game winning streak ended with a 12-10 loss to defending Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champion St. John’s on March 13. The Bears rebounded with a 9-6 win over St. Mary’s (Md.) behind six points by Joey Epstein. Previous: 1

7. St. Mary’s-Annapolis (Md.), 3-1

The Saints defeated St. John’s (D.C.), St. Mary’s Ryken (Md.) and Georgetown Prep (Md.) in their first three games. The only blemish on their record is a 9-6 loss to Landon (Md.). Goalie Aleric Fyock made 15 saves against Prep and 12 in the loss to Landon. Previous: NR

8. St. John’s (D.C.), 4-1

The Cadets lost their season opener to St. Mary’s but proceeded to defeat Georgetown Prep (Md.) and Landon. Both wins were impressive enough to move them into the rankings. Previous: NR

9. Malvern Prep (Pa.), 0-1

The Friars dropped their season opener, 11-4 to Calvert Hall. The early-season schedule continues to ramp up with games against St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes and Gilman this week. Previous: 5

Twenty-eight players return to the Explorers, including 11 Division I commits in the senior class, when they get started on March 23. Previous: 8

1. Lambert (Ga.), 8-0

The Longhorns only played once last week, but it was a big win, 15-4 over No. 8 Centennial. They play two in-state games this week, including a matchup with one-loss Johns Creek (Ga.). Previous: 1 

2. The Woodlands (Texas), 9-0

The Highlanders made a clean sweep of their trip to California, finishing 3-0, and made another big move up the rankings. They opened the week with a 19-10 win against Marin Catholic and then picked up a 15-1 win over De La Salle. After a game with Seven Lakes (Texas) on Tuesday, they have a showdown at Dallas Jesuit (Texas) on Sunday. Previous: 6 

3. Oxbridge Academy (Fla.), 8-2

After losses to two Maryland teams ranked in the top 10 nationally, the ThunderWolves rebounded with wins over John I. Leonard (Fla.) and Palm Beach Central (Fla.). Twelve players scored in the 18-0 win over Leonard, led by Mike Hayes and Beau Diamond with three each. They play No. 3 Ponte Vedra on Saturday. Previous: 3  

4. Ponte Vedra (Fla.), 9-2

The Sharks rebounded from their loss to nationally-ranked Calvert Hall (Md.) with a 20-4 win over Creekside (Fla.), as Cam Welch led with four goals, but they suffered their first loss to a Florida team when Bishop Moore took a 7-6 win on Saturday. Ponte Vedra has big games with Jupiter (Fla.) and No. 2 Oxbridge Academy on Friday and Saturday. Oxbridge beat Bishop Moore earlier in the season. Previous: 2  

5. Dallas Jesuit (Texas), 6-2

The Rangers absorbed their second consecutive loss in Washington, D.C., falling 10-2 to Gonzaga, which was ranked No. 19 nationally. David Sprock and Jack Tabor had the goals. The Rangers play three games this week, ending with a key matchup against No. 2 The Woodlands on Sunday. Previous: 4  

6. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 5-3

The Raiders lost 8-5 to McDonogh (Md.), which was ranked in the top 10 nationally, and then lost to Loyola-Blakefield (Md.). They play two more games before returning to Florida -- against Archbishop Spalding (Md.), which beat Dallas Jesuit earlier this season, and against Salesianum School (Del.). Previous: 5  

7. Middle Creek (N.C.), 6-0

The Mustangs picked up in-state wins over Holly Springs and Jack Britt. Owen Caputo led with five goals against Holly Springs. Next up is a game against Friendship (N.C.) on Tuesday. Previous: 7 

8. Episcopal School of Dallas (Texas), 7-1

The Eagles went to California and won two games. They beat Poway 10-7 and then beat Cathedral Catholic 10-4. Poway was the San Diego CIF Open Division champion in 2015 and 2016. Previous: 8 

9. Centennial (Ga.), 7-1

The Knights stretched their run of wins to seven with a 26-2 victory over Brookwood, as Nicky Solomon had four goals and eight assists. However, they fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 15-4 loss at No. 1 Lambert. Previous: 9 

10. Weddington (N.C.), 5-0

The Warriors beat Cuthbertson (N.C.) 19-5, Carrboro (N.C.) 16-5, then knocked off rival Marvin Ridge (N.C.) 11-5. Michael Burns led with 10 goals and two assists against Cuthbertson. Anthony Todaro, who scored seven in that game, had five goals and two assists against Carrboro. Will Shipley and James Shipley each had three goals against Marvin Ridge. Previous: 10

1. Culver Prep Academy (Ind.), 4-0

The Eagles are on a 21-game winning streak dating back to last year after wins last week over Kiski Prep (Pa.), 21-1, and Cathedral (Ind.), 18-2. Alex Simmons led the way with four goals in Culver’s most recent win against Cathedral. Previous: 1

2. MICDS (Mo.), 4-0 

The Rams have simply been dominant to start the season, outscoring the competition 88-3 through four games. MICDS won games last week over Christian Brothers (Mo.), 15-2, and St. Mary’s (Mo.) 26-1. Thomas Niedringhaus is MICDS’ leading scorer with 19 goals and 10 assists. Previous: 2

3. Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.), 0-0

The Shamrocks are set to open their season on Thursday with a contest against Huron Valley (Mich.). Detroit Catholic Central came just one goal shy of winning a state title in 2017. Previous: 3

4. Archbishop Moeller (Ohio), 2-0 

Moeller began the season last week with a pair of 12-4 victories, defeating Milford (Ohio) on Friday and Lexington Catholic (Ky.) on Saturday. Joey Koehne was solid between the pipes with nine saves against Lexington Catholic. Previous: 4

5. Brother Rice (Mich.), 0-0

The Warriors get to savor their 2017 Michigan state title for a few more weeks, as they open the season April 3 against University Detroit Jesuit (Mich.). Previous: 5

6. Cathedral (Ind.), 1-1

The Irish opened the season Friday with an impressive 11-9 win over Kiski Prep (Pa.), led by a four-goal, two-assist effort from Tanner Dunwoody. Cathedral then lost to Culver Prep (Ind.) on Sunday by an 18-2 margin. Cathedral has two huge road games this weekend, at Archbishop Moeller (Ohio) on Friday and Louisville St. Xavier (Ky.) on Saturday. Previous: 6

7. New Trier (Ill.), 1-0

It was almost a perfect start for the Trevians on March 14, as Henry Freedman’s five-assist performance helped New Trier to a 15-1 win over Maine South (Ill.). Johnny Mayday scored four times. New Trier plays Vernon Hills (Ill.) on Wednesday. Previous: 7

8. DeSmet Jesuit (Mo.), 2-0

The Spartans are on a 15-day break after starting the season with a 13-3 win over Priory School (Mo.) on March 5 and a 9-6 victory over Chaminade Prep (Mo.) four days later. Luke Wetzel notched hat tricks in both of DeSmet Jesuit’s wins. Previous: 9

9. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 0-0

The Ramblers are set to begin the season on March 25 against St. Laurence (Ill.). They are coming off a state runner-up finish to New Trier last year. Previous: 8

The Bombers had four players net hat tricks on Saturday, paving the way to a 15-4 victory over Columbus DeSales (Ohio). Goalie Ross Wiseman stopped 14 shots. Previous: 10

1. Regis Jesuit (Colo.), 2-0

The Raiders opened with a 19-1 win over Mullen (Colo.) on March 14, then added a 17-2 win over Rocky Mountain (Colo.). Against Mullen, Joe Kassal and Anders Erickson each tallied three goals and two assists, and Charlie Maly had three goals. Jake Taylor led the Raiders against Rocky Mountain with four goals and three assists. Kassal won 19 of 22 faceoffs combined, as Regis outscored its two opponents 15-0 in the first quarter. Up next is a clash against defending state championship Cherry Creek (Colo.). Previous: 1 

2. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 3-0

The Falcons survived a close game against Texas powerhouse Highland Park, winning 9-8, then fended off St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) 10-6 on Friday. Highland Park led 6-5 going into the fourth quarter, but Torrey Pines rallied and scored the game-winner on Alex Pistorius’ fourth goal with seven seconds left. Sophomore attackman Blake Erlbeck finished with six goals and six assists combined in the two games. The Falcons host Noble & Greenough (Mass.) on Tuesday. Previous: 2 

3. La Costa Canyon (Calif.), 4-0

The Mavericks rolled to a 12-2 win over San Marcos (Calif.) on Saturday in their only game of the week to remain perfect. La Costa Canyon has outscored its opponents 54-18 heading into Tuesday’s game against Cathedral Catholic (Calif.). Previous: 4 

4. Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.), 8-0

The Knights continue to climb after adding three more wins in a five-day span. They started the week with a 12-8 win over Trabuco Hills (Calif.) on March 13, then breezed past Loomis Chaffee (Conn.) 16-6 before handing Corona del Mar (Calif.) a 12-4 loss on Saturday in a rematch of last year’s county championship. Senior Josh Fox led Foothill with five goals against CdM, and Andrew Cumming and Troy Hafer each added three goals. Cumming also had four assists, and Ethan Sepulveda had 10 saves in goal for the Knights, who were scheduled to play at Newport Harbor (Calif.) on Monday. Previous: 6 

5. Coronado (Calif.), 2-0

The Islanders topped St. Ignatius Prep 9-6 in their only game of the week. They travel to Poway on Tuesday before hosting Colorado Academy (Colo.) in their second game against an out-of-state opponent. Previous: 7 

6. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 3-0

The Bruins are off to a good start after picking up two more wins last week. They beat Denver East (Colo.) 10-5 on March 14, then beat Wheat Ridge (Colo.) 12-4. Henry Savage had four goals and an assist against Denver East, while Luke Rios won 10 of 19 faceoffs and Knox Dent collected six saves in goal. The big test comes Wednesday against Regis Jesuit. 7. Bellevue (Wash.), 2-0

The Wolverines opened March 14 with a 10-4 win against O’Dea (Wash.), then added a 9-7 win over Skyline (Wash.). Tom Heed led with four goals and one assist against O’Dea, and Paul Johnson had four goals and one assist against Skyline. Previous: 9 

8. Oregon Episcopal (Ore.), 1-0

The Aardvarks opened with a 12-6 win at Lake Oswego (Ore.) and have won 16 straight dating back to last year, but they’ll have to wait a couple weeks to add to that streak. Oregon Episcopal is off until April 3 when it travels to Wilsonville (Ore.). Previous: 10 

9. St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), 5-0

The Tartans join the rankings after beating Loyola-Los Angeles (Calif.) 8-4 on Saturday. Zane Handy recorded 12 saves, and it was just the third time in three seasons that Loyola has been held to four goals or less. Kevin Groeninger led the St. Margaret’s attack with two goals and two assists. Previous: NR 

10. San Ramon Valley (Calif.), 6-1

The Wolves slipped up against Bellarmine Prep (Calif.), dropping a 4-3 decision on Thursday, but bounced back with a respectable 12-7 win over De La Salle (Calif.). Bellarmine is the only team to hold SRV under 11 goals this season. Previous: 3
