Undefeated Tufts survived its first big test as the nation’s top team and maintains its hold on number one in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III Women’s Top 20.
Tufts improved to 7-0 in NESCAC games and 12-0 overall with a 14-12 win over No. 9 Amherst Saturday. Junior Emily Games scored a game-high four goals to pace the Jumbos.
No. 2 Middlebury extended its winning streak to 12 games with three wins last week. The Panthers, who have not lost since their season-opener, host Tufts in a 1 vs. 2 showdown Saturday.
There were no changes among the top eight teams this week. No. 9 St. John Fisher, which extended its winning streak to 11 games, moved up one spot. Amherst, which has lost four games by a total of six goals, dropped one spot to number 10.
Games of note this week, in addition to the Tufts-Middlebury clash, include No. 5 Salisbury visiting No. 11 York, No. 6 Mary Washington hosting No. 12 Catholic, and No. 14 Colorado College coming east to play No. 18 TCNJ. With a 14-0 record, Colorado College joins Tufts as the nation’s only other undefeated team.

Cortland (+2)
The Red Dragons have won six of their last seven, with the only loss in that span coming against No. 9 St. John Fisher. Cortland improved to 5-0 in SUNYAC games with 10 different players scoring in Saturday’s 18-4 win over Buffalo State.
St. John Fisher (+1)
The Cardinals ran their winning streak to 11 games with Saturday’s 13-3 win over Hartwick. Fisher has held seven of 11 opponents to five goals or less during the streak. The only undefeated team in the Empire 8, Fisher hosts second-place Stevens Saturday.

Trinity (-3)
It was a tough week for Trinity in the ultra-competitive NESCAC, losing at home to both No. 7 Wesleyan and No. 2 Middlebury. The Bantams step out-of-conference one more time this week, visiting Stevens, before closing out the regular season at Colby and No. 10 Amherst.

Brockport
Brockport is riding an eight-game winning streak and remains unbeaten in conference play. The Golden Eagles have already clinched a SUNYAC playoff berth, but still face a daunting slate of conference games over the next two weeks, including Geneseo, No. 9 St. John Fisher, and No. 16 Cortland.

Colby (No. 15)
The Mules have lost three straight, including a 15-12 setback at Williams on Saturday. Colby rallied from a five-goal first half deficit to pull to within one in the second half, but Williams answered by scoring six of the next seven.
