Cornell goalie Christian Knight appeared to be an unbreakable wall in the 2018 Ivy League tournament.

The senior keeper recorded 19 saves Friday to lead the Big Red past Brown 7-4 and then made another 16 stops Sunday in a 14-8 upset victory over top-seeded Yale for the conference crown and NCAA automatic bid.

His 35 saves in two games set a new Ivy League tournament record en route to becoming the MVP. For his performance, Knight is the Warrior/US Lacrosse Player of the Week.

"This is one of the happiest moments of my life," Knight said. "It's a really special thing to accomplish with really special team. We've been working hard all year long. We set our minds on winning an Ivy League tournament championship during the fall. So it feels really great to accomplish one of our goals." 

Knight inched closer to jumping into the top four in program history for saves with 585 career stops.

His 19 saves against the Bears set a tournament record and matched his career high.

“Our goalie play was outstanding,” said defensive coordinator Jordan Stevens. “I think Christian is the best goalie in the country and he played like it. … He's as important of a player for our team as any player I've ever been around."   

The Ivy championship win was the first for the Big Red since 2011 and second overall. In the 2018 NCAA tournament, Cornell earned a matchup with No. 8 seed Syracuse.
