Stanford Wins Fifth Straight, Opens Pac-12 Play with Win at Colorado

Stanford made it five straight and opened Pac-12 play with an 18-12 victory at Colorado on Friday afternoon.

Aliya Polisky scored seven times and added three assists and Jordyn Case scored five goals as the Cardinal pulled away in the second half. Colorado (5-3) scored the last four goals of the first quarter to take a 5-3 lead and it was tied 6-6 at the half.

Colorado scored the first seven goals of the second half – four by Polisky and three by Case – to take control of the contest.

Annabel Frist also played a big role in the contest for Stanford with a goal, two assists, two caused turnovers and 12 draw controls.

Colorado outshot Stanford 37-30, but Cardinal goalie Lucy Pearson made 14 saves.

Eve Hritzuk led Colorado with three goals and Madeline Pisani, Maddie Shoup and Sydney Zimmerman each scored twice.

Stanford opened the season losses to Virginia and Yale – two teams with a combined record of 13-1 – but have since been dominant, winnings its last five games by a combined 52 goals. The Cardinal stay in Colorado over the weekend and will play at 2023 NCAA semifinalist Denver on Monday.

  • Lindenwood improved to 8-1 with a 16-12 win over Central Michigan. Sara Grieco had four goals and two assists for Lindenwood, which had fallen behind 5-2 early in the game.
  • Julia Weiss and Erinn Crowe combined to make a school-record 19 saves as Kennesaw State edged Rider 16-13.
  • Dartmouth scored a season-best 20 goals in a 20-8 victory at San Diego State. Maja Desmond and Catherie Erb each scored four goals and Katina Christensen (3g, 3a) had a team-high six points.
