Izzy Scane is the 2024 Tewaaraton Award winner as the best women’s lacrosse player in the country, as announced Thursday night during the Tewaaraton Award ceremony at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

It’s the second Tewaaraton Trophy for the Northwestern star, who in six years set multiple program records and finishes her career with the most goals in Division I women’s lacrosse history (376). It’s her third time as a finalist for the award (2021, 2023).

The other finalists were Loyola midfielder Chase Boyle, Stony Brook midfielder Ellie Masera, Northwestern attacker Madison Taylor and Notre Dame attacker Jackie Wolak.

Scane led Northwestern to a national championship in 2023, the same season she returned from an ACL injury that cost her the entirety of 2022. She produced her best season off that injury, producing 99 goals and 35 assists.

She finished with 88 goals and 21 assists in 2024, leading Northwestern to the national title game. The Wildcats fell to Boston College, 14-13.

One of the fiercest players in the sport, Scane proved to be more than just a goal scorer in Evanston. A threat on the ride, Scane never made things easy for opposing teams trying to clear.

Scane was the No. 1 pick in the Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse draft, and she’ll begin her professional career this summer when AU brings its fourth season to USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
