This season, USA Lacrosse will celebrate the accomplishments of players across Divisions I, II and III each Tuesday with Player of the Week recognition.
Players of the Week are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors based on a variety of factors, including individual performance and impact on team success.
Justin Tiernan, Michigan
Tiernan produced his fourth five-goal game of the spring on Saturday against Maryland, and it was his final two goals that mattered most. Michigan, suddenly the thorn in the side of the Terps, needed every bit it could get from the graduate student inside the final three minutes.
Tiernan finished a feed from Ryan Cohen with 2:36 left, tying the score at 11, before scoring on his own with 1:13 left for the final 12-11 margin.
A Lehigh transfer, Tiernan has 37 goals and three assists for the Wolverines.
Matthew Mancini, Lenoir-Rhyne
The sophomore won 19 of his 23 draws against Wingate and picked up a season-high 12 ground balls in a 12-7 win over the Bulldogs. He also picked up his first career point by assisting Zack Salo early in the first quarter.
Joe Perry, RPI
RIT took a whopping 21 more shots than RPI did on Saturday. Unfortunately for RIT, Joe Perry was standing in the way of those shots.
The RPI netminder made 24 saves, a new career high, including a game-saving doorstep stop in overtime to preserve a massive win for the Engineers.
