Syracuse bounced back from Saturday’s heartbreaking overtime loss to Maryland with a strong 18-7 victory over Utah in a Wednesday matinee at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Joey Spallina had three goals and four assists, pushing him past the 100 points mark for his career in just 20 games. Spallina’s 20 games to reach 100 points in the third-fastest in Syracuse history.

The Orange (4-1) continued to find success on faceoffs with Mason Kohn winning 14 of 18 and John Mullen winning seven of 11. Kohn also had a goal and an assist to help get the Syracuse offense going.

Finn Thomson added a hat trick for Syracuse and Will Mark made 14 saves in the win.

Colin Lenskold made 17 saves for Utah (0-3).

Brandau Has 13 Record Points for Yale

Matt Brandau set a Yale record with 13 points in the Bulldogs 21-11 victory over Colgate in a game played at the University at Albany on Wednesday night.

Brandau’s six goals came on six shots and his seven assists matched his personal career high. Brandau’s 13 points broke the Yale record of 12 points in a game set by Jason O’Neill in 1990.

Colgate jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but then Brandau took over. The Bulldogs (2-0) scored five goals in the final 4:42 of the first quarter and Brandau had a hand in the first four with two goals and two assists.

Yale’s scoring streak eventually reached nine straight goals and 10 first-half points from Brandau helped the Bulldogs take a comfortable 13-6 halftime lead. Brandau then scored the first two goals of the second half to help put the game out of reach.

David Anderson added four goals for Yale and Jared Paquette made 13 saves while allowing nine goals.

NJIT’S Magic Continues

NJIT, a program which won just a combined seven games in its first eight years of existence before Eric Wolf took over as the head coach, is off to a perfect 4-0 start after rallying for a 14-13 overtime win against Monmouth.

Monmouth led 13-10 midway through the fourth quarter, but the Highlanders scored three straight goals, including a man-down longpole goal by Hank Bethel, to tie the game.

Monmouth had a man-up opportunity with 35 seconds to go in regulation and won the faceoff to start overtime, but couldn’t convert either chance.

Following a Monmouth turnover in overtime, NJIT’s Ryan Sininsky turned the corner down the right alley and fired home the game-winner on the run.

Jack Bowie had five goals for NJIT and Sininsky added three goals and three assists.

Ty Caffarelli led Monmouth with three goals.

NJIT is now 7-10 in Wolf’s first two seasons after going 7-97 from 2015 through 2022.

Sacred Heart Gets First Win

Morgan O’Reilly led the offense with a hat trick and Luke Romanek won 20 of 25 faceoffs for Sacred Heart (1-3).
