Lyons, Fitzpatrick, Holdridge are USA Lacrosse Men's Players of the Week

This season, USA Lacrosse will celebrate the accomplishments of players across Divisions I, II and III each Tuesday with Player of the Week recognition. Players of the Week are selected by USA Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors based on a variety of factors, including individual performance and impact on team success.

DIVISION I

CHRIS LYONS, YALE

Chris Lyons scored 36 goals as a freshman. He kicked off his sophomore spring at Yale by scoring 25 percent of that in one game.

Lyons dropped a ridiculous nine goals in a 20-14 win over Villanova, doing so on just 14 shots. Six of his goals came in the second half after Villanova and Yale entered the half tied at 10. 

His nine goals were the most by a sophomore in a game in school history and just one shy of Jon Reese’s program single-game record of 10 set against Army in 1990.

DIVISION II

DANIEL FITZPATRICK, TAMPA

Daniel Fitzpatrick produced nearly the exact same line twice last week. Against Flagler, he had four goals and one assist on seven shots. Four days later, he had four goals and one assist on eight shots.

That adds up to eight goals, two assists and two big wins for Tampa, including a major 13-9 win over Lenoir-Rhyne.

DIVISION III

CALEB HOLDRIDGE, COAST GUARD

Caleb Holdridge made his season debut against RPI and tied Taylor Gustafson for the most goals on the team. But his third and final goal was the most impactful of any scorer as the overtime winner against an RPI team that was receiving some love in the Top 20 entering the week.

A senior attackman, Holdridge had 48 goals and 45 assists in 17 games last spring.
