Keith Bugbee, the longtime Springfield College men's lacrosse coach entering his 42nd season in 2025, announced Monday that the upcoming spring will be his last.
The legendary coach will retire following the spring season, leaving behind a program he led to an NCAA Division II national championship in 1994 and over 400 wins during his tenure.
"It is with tremendous gratitude that I am announcing my retirement from Springfield College following this upcoming season," Bugbee said in a release. "I feel blessed that Springfield College took a chance on a 25-year old coach over 40 years ago. I have been so fortunate to spend my entire coaching career at Springfield College with the greatest student-athletes and colleagues. This has been a lifestyle for me and my family and I'm so thankful to all those who have shown up for me during my career. It has been the privilege of a lifetime."
Bugbee enters 2025 with a 422-230 record, with his 422 wins ranking third behind active men's lacrosse coaches (Jim Berkman, SUNY Potsdam/Salisbury, 632; John Danowski, C.W. Post/Hofstra/Duke, 459).
Bugbee's wins total also ranks fifth in the history of the sport.
Springfield finished 2024 with a 7-10 record, a mark influenced heavily by a season-opening eight-game losing streak. The Pride lost in the NEWMAC championship game to Babson.
