Dylan Renner Named USA Lacrosse D-II Men's Preseason Player of the Year

Adelphi goalie Dylan Renner was named the USA Lacrosse Division II Men’s Preseason Player of the Year on Friday, USA Lacrosse Magazine announced.

A 2024 NCAA champion, Renner enters 2025 as a graduate student looking to somehow eclipse a season in which he saved 64.7 percent of shots.

In his three years at Adelphi, Renner has never saved less than 58.4 percent of shots, establishing himself as one of the top goalies in any division in the country.

Preseason Attackman of the Year

Zach Terry, Limestone

No stranger to the top of the All-American list, Zach Terry returns to Limestone aiming for another prolific goal-scoring campaign. In his first two campaigns with the Saints, Terry amassed 173 points — 153 of them coming on goals. He fills the net like nobody else in the nation. 

Preseason Midfielder of the Year

Mike McGarry, Limestone

McGarry never met a shot he didn’t like. He’s let it rip over 400 times in three years with Limestone as a heavy-volume shooter from the midfield. McGarry has scored 40-plus goals in two of the last three seasons. He let double-digit shots go in three separate games last year and registered at least one goal in 16 straight games.

Preseason Defenseman of the Year

Peyton Farley, Wingate

Farley is a consistent, solid defender who returns from a first-team All-SAC season. He’s consistent, routinely drawing and winning top matchups. He plays clean lacrosse, committing just five penalties in all of 2024. He caused a team-leading 27 turnovers a year ago and scooped 41 ground balls.

Preseason Specialist of the Year

Matthew Mancini, Lenoir-Rhyne

A bevy of excellent faceoff specialists graduated from the Division II ranks after last season, leaving some gaps to fill at the top of the positional ranking. There is no better suitor at the faceoff spot than Mancini. He went over 60 percent a year ago, scooping 126 ground balls. In Lenoir-Rhyne’s last four games (Limestone twice, Tampa and Adelphi), Mancini went a combined 56-for-90, or 62 percent, saving his best stuff for the biggest moments.

Preseason Goalie of the Year

Dylan Renner, Adelphi

Renner led the entire nation in save percentage a year ago across all divisions. He’s the returning national player of the year in Division II. He changes games from the goalie position, both in the way his defense plays in front of him and the way the opposing offense tries to attack him.
