Dialed In: Your Lacrosse Fix For Friday, March 10

Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:

1. The Tewaaraton Foundation announced its first additions to the men’s and women’s Watch Lists.

Nine players were added to the men’s Watch List, highlighted by Payton Cormier of No. 1 Virginia and Chris Kavanagh of No. 2 Notre Dame.

The women’s Watch List saw 14 new players join the fray, with No. 1 North Carolina getting both attacker Reilly Casey and goalie Alecia Nicholas added.

The next round of additions will be March 31.

2. We also published our weekly Tewaaraton Stock Watch pieces after the news dropped.

Patrick Stevens thinks that Cornell’s CJ Kirst is the current favorite on the men’s side and thinks Connor Shellenberger, even if a strong stat line, could become the victim of an offense that has several players firing hot.

It looks like the women’s Tewaaraton Award is Meaghan Tyrrell’s to lose at this point in the season, Charlotte Varnes writes, especially with Izzy Scane missing the past two contests. But Syracuse has only played six games, so there’s a lot more lacrosse to go.

3. Brian Holman has filled out his staff on the Cannons.

Holman and the Cannons announced that Mikey Thompson, the Christopher Newport head coach, and Jim Mitchell, the Princeton offensive coordinator, will be the team’s assistants this summer.

4. Speaking of the Cannons, they remain the most active team in PLL free agency.

Holman made another signing yesterday, bringing in former Archers goalie Adam Ghitelman on a one-year deal. Ghitelman was an assistant of Holman’s at Utah. Holman also signed midfielder Jeff Trainor away from the Archers on a one-year deal.

5. Brown is dealing with a suspension of several seniors.

Inside Lacrosse’s Terry Foy reports that seven seniors — Devon McLane, Logan Paff, Griffin King, Topher Bligh, Trevor Yeboah-Kodie, Oscar Hertz and Ben Palin — have been suspended until March 25 for violations of university policies that include being issued a summons by Providence police for a noise complaint.
