ATLANTA — After returning from a six-week hiatus and watching the former top team fall in its conference finals, Air Force has returned to the No. 1 position in the MCLA Division II New Balance Weekly Coaches Poll.

The Falcons (9-0), who jump into the top spot after sitting at No. 2 for the past two weeks, routed a pair of opponents over the weekend to keep their perfect record heading into the RMLC playoffs.

Air Force amassed 24 of the 27 votes cast in the poll.

St. Thomas (15-2), which captured the UMLC title after beating formerly top-ranked and current No. 3 Grand Valley State (14-1), sits in the second spot. The Tommies have a pair of first-place votes, while the Lakers grabbed the final top ballot.

Rhode Island (10-2) dropped a spot to No. 4 after losing to a ranked Division I Northeastern squad, while Montana State (15-1) holds tight at No. 5.

This is the last regular season poll of the spring.
