Editor's Note: Mid-Atlantic and Midwest region reports begin next week when the first in-season updates of the National Top 25 boys' and girls' lacrosse rankings are released.

1. Regis Jesuit (Colo.), 0-0

A pair of losses dropped former No. 1 St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) out for now, allowing the Raiders to move to the top spot before even taking the field. They open their season Wednesday at home against Mullen (Colo.). Regis returns the bulk of its top players from last season and looks to get back to championship form after failing to defend their 2016 title last year. Previous: 2

2. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 1-0

The Falcons were looking forward to their season opener against Lawrenceville (N.J.), but their East Coast visitors had to forfeit because of a food poisoning epidemic that spread through the team after a loss at Coronado (Calif.) on March 8. Torrey Pines now opens against Highland Park (Texas) on Tuesday. Previous: 3
