SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse today announced Maryland women’s coach and defending national champion Cathy Reese as a featured speaker for girls’ lacrosse coaches at the 2018 US Lacrosse Convention (LaxCon), set for Jan. 19-21 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

Reese, in her 12th year at Maryland, led the Terrapins to the 2017 NCAA championship — their fourth under Reese and her 11th as a player, assistant coach or head coach at Maryland. Since being hired by her alma mater prior to the 2007 season after a three-year tenure as head coach at Denver, Reese has coached the Terps to three national runner-up finishes and an outright or shared league championship in every season. She’ll deliver the kickoff address to the girls’ game audience at LaxCon at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19.

The early bird registration promotion for LaxCon ends at 11:59 p.m. ET Thursday. Until then, US Lacrosse members can purchase full convention tickets for just $90; non-members for $130. Each figure represents a $70 savings vs. their respective walk-up rates.

“LaxCon is such a great event to interact with so many people who are passionate about our sport,” Reese said. “It’s so special to be able to share and learn with fans and coaches, and I’m excited to be back this year.”

Here's a clip of Reese from her 2017 LaxCon presentation on the motion offense:

Maryland ran the table last season at 23-0 in capturing its third NCAA title in four seasons. Three times the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association named Reese its national coach of the year. She was won her conference coach of the year award 10 times. Reese has coached Tewaaraton Award winners Caitlyn McFadden, Katie Schwarzmann and Taylor Cummings, in addition to dozens of All-Americans, academic honorees, and players honored by conferences and nationally. Reese has an all-time record of 259-57 (.820) in 14 years as a collegiate head coach.

“Cathy Reese has returned Maryland to the top of the women’s lacrosse world,” said Kim Rogers, director of events at US Lacrosse. “She has spoken at LaxCon before and has ranked among our most popular presenters. We are thrilled to have her back.”

LaxCon represents lacrosse’s largest educational event and trade show, drawing upwards of 7,000 each year. The convention is open to the public, and members of US Lacrosse save $40 on registration vs. public pricing regardless of date of purchase. Special hotel rates are available for all attendees who book accommodations before Dec. 17.
