The Hornets picked up two important in-state wins. In a 9-8 decision over Lake Highland Prep, Lauren Goulet had six draw controls and four ground balls, and Cami Donadio added 11 saves. The Fighting Indians stayed unbeaten before they begin a tough stretch of their schedule. After starting the week with an 18-3 win over Martin County (Fla.), the Indians beat Texas power St. John’s 15-2 and then beat Pinecrest (Fla.) 10-7. Raegan Gibbons had six goals and an assist in the win over Martin County. Vero Beach plays national No. 1 McDonogh (Md.) and Novato (Calif.), the No. 1 team in the West Region, this week. The Bears, the 2017 Georgia 6A state runners-up, jump onto the rankings after reeling off four wins last week, including two against out-of-state teams. Cambridge beat Georgia opponents North Forsyth 18-1 and Chattahoochee 15-7 before topping Charlotte Country Day (N.C.) 20-6 and Hockaday (Texas) 18-9. The Bears’ only loss was to Bishop Moore.
