The Brine/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

Northeast

Lucy Rugaber, Penfield (N.Y.)

The junior scored off a feed from eighth-grader Elisa Faklaris with 1:32 left in regulation to propel Penfield to a 6-5 win over Pittsford (N.Y.) in the Section V Class A semifinals. Pittsford had won 29 games in a row and the last four sectional titles. Rugaber finished with three goals and one assist.

Mid-Atlantic

Sarah Cipolla, Glenelg (Md.)

Cipolla accounted for half of her team’s goals in a 6-5 win over Hereford (Md.) that secured Glenelg’s third straight championship. The junior is committed to William & Mary.

Midwest

Olivia Proctor, MICDS (Mo.)

The junior saved some of her best lacrosse of the season for the end. Proctor scored five times in both the state semifinal and championship, helping MICDS to its fifth title in six years. She also added a pair of assists in last week’s state title game. Proctor was tied as the team’s top goal scorer with 66 tallies.

West

Maggie Silliman, Colorado Academy (Colo.)

The junior midfielder scored a season-high four goals with one assist to lead the Mustangs to a 13-7 win over top-seeded Cherry Creek for their fourth straight state title last week. Colorado had a one-goal lead at halftime but the offense surged in the second half to hand the Bruins their only loss.
