The Brine/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.
Northeast
Sydney Roderick, South Jefferson (N.Y.)
Roderick finished with three goals and nine assists to lead South Jefferson (Syracuse area) to a 23-3 win over Carthage (N.Y.) last week. She followed with two goals and two assists in a 15-4 win over Liverpool (N.Y.). Roderick, a senior, now has 28 goals and 52 assists in 15 games this season.

Mid-Atlantic
Georgia Esmond, Glenelg (Md.)
Esmond led the Gladiators with four goals and three assists in the Maryland Class 2A state semifinal victory over Kent Island (Md.). She started a second-half assault in which Glenelg scored seven goals on seven shots in less than nine minutes.

South
Brianna Carrasquillo, Milton (Ga.)
The junior midfielder led Milton to its 12th Georgia High School Association 6A-7A state title, its seventh championship in the last eight years. She had five goals in an 11-10 win over Lassiter in the final, and in a semifinal win over Walton, Carrasquillo had four goals, three ground balls, two caused turnovers and 10 draw controls.

Midwest
Lucy Murray, New Trier (Ill.)
As opposing defenses ramp up their efforts against Murray, she continues to perform. Last week, the junior scored four times and assisted on five goals in New Trier’s win over Glenbrook South (Ill.). Two days later, Murray scored four goals and caused three turnovers against Hinsdale Central. She is slated to attend Dartmouth in 2019.

Charlie Rudy, Novato (Calif.)
The junior tallied seven of her team’s goals in a 13-9 win over Oak Ridge (Calif.) as the Hornets won their fourth straight North Coast Section title Thursday. Only three players scored goals for Novato, which put the ball in the hands of its biggest playmaker to hold off its closest challenger in California this season.
