The Brine/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage.

Northeast

Alex Busch, Carey (N.Y.)

Carey finished with five goals and three assists to lead Carey to a 14-10 win over Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK (N.Y.). She now has 19 goals and nine assists in five games this season.

Mid-Atlantic

Hannah Gillespie, Notre Dame Academy (Pa.)

Gillespie scored three goals, dished out one assist and caused two turnovers in Notre Dame’s win over St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes on Saturday. The junior helped the Fighting Irish take a 3-0 lead early in the game and a 5-3 lead at halftime.

South

Briana Carrasquillo, Milton (Ga.)

The junior midfielder had a big weekend in Maryland. She scored three goals in a win over Holy Cross and had three goals, two assists and seven draw controls in a win over Holy Child. Carrasquillo had five goals, two assists and 11 draw controls in a loss to Good Counsel.

Lauren Shekell, Evansville North (Ind.)

Evansville has won nine in a row and is off to a 9-2 start to the season, thanks in large part to Shekell’s offense. Last week, the senior attacker scored seven goals and added two assists in Evansville North’s 24-0 victory over Brownsburg (Ind.). She also scored four times in Evansville’s 19-0 win over Center Grove (Ind.).

Arielle Shahrabani, Torrey Pines (Calif.)

Shahrabani helped the Falcons come from behind to beat Carondelet (Calif.) 8-7 last week, tallying the game-tying and game-winning goals within a 34-second span of time. She finished with a hat trick.
