TD Ierlan
26-for-26 vs. Harvard

Lacrosse fans knew how good TD Ierlan was, and how good Yale could be, when he made the decision to transfer to New Haven for the 2019 season. He had won all 24 of his faceoffs in two separate games for Albany during the 2018 season, and he was back for more. What he accomplished on April 29 against Harvard may not have come as a surprise to many fans. Ierlan won all 26 of his faceoffs in a 22-11 win over the Crimson, breaking the NCAA single-game record  for 25 held by Sacred Heart’s Zach Smith.

Brennan O'Neill
CHSAA Final

St. Anthony's (N.Y.) junior and Duke commit Brennan O’Neill, lauded by many as one of the top college prospects in recent memory, took his game to another level on May 15 in the CHSAA Class AAA state title game. With his St. Anthony's team down to Chaminade for much of the game, O’Neill led a surge. He scored seven goals and added an assist to fuel a 14-13 comeback victory — St. Anthony’s second in six years. O’Neill had three goals in the fourth quarter, including the game-tying tally with 4:06 left in the game.

Alex Rode
2019 Final Four

Much attention was paid to a star-studded Virginia offense, including Dox Aitken, Michael Kraus, Ian Laviano and Ryan Conrad, in the Cavaliers’ magical run to the 2019 NCAA championship. But just as solid when it mattered was goalie Alex Rode, whose 31 saves helped him earn Most Outstanding Player honors. Rode came up huge against Duke in the semifinal, making 18 saves in a one-goal victory. He was just as good on Memorial Day against a Yale team that set the NCAA tournament record for goals. He saved 13 shots and held the Bulldogs to single digits for the first time in 2019.

John Grant Jr.
Breaks MLL Scoring Record

John Grant Jr. wasn’t done just yet. After retiring from professional lacrosse in 2017, Grant Jr. wrapped up one of the best careers in the history of the sport. But as he served on the coaching staff for the Denver Outlaws, he got the itch again. Grant Jr. made a triumphant return to the MLL, helping lead the Outlaws to the championship game. His best effort on the season came on June 10, when he dropped two goals and five assists en route to breaking Paul Rabil’s league record of 571 regular-season points. At 44, the legend still has it.
