Another Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, and the lacrosse community showed off its best and brightest on all social media outlets over the past few days. Whether it was a certain legendary football coach visiting practices or professional sports teams giving props to the national champion Maryland Terrapins, lacrosse Twitter (and Instagram/Snapchat for that matter) was ablaze all weekend.

It certainly was a busy weekend for lacrosse fans, so you might have missed some of the big happenings at Gillette Stadium. No fear, we have your Best of Lacrosse Twitter to get you up to speed. Apologizes to any tweets that deserved attention and were not recognized. Know that we enjoyed your tweets nonetheless.

Thursday

Who doesn't love a hometown favorite? That's what Gillette Stadium got when the Boston College women's lacrosse team advanced to the final four. The Eagles certainly had the media's attention, and apparently some of the Patriots' as well.

What would an NCAA lacrosse championship at Gillette Stadium be without one of the sport's most notable ambassadors? Bill Belichick was everywhere on Thursday and Friday, but meeting with the Navy lacrosse team was special.

Friday

Denver brought a little taste of home to practice with some nice artwork on players' helmets.

Like we said, Belichick made the rounds with teams participating in the final four. He even grabbed a stick and tossed it around before chatting with Maryland coach John Tillman.

The Navy fan section was pumped during the first half, which saw the Midshipmen take a lead into the break before losing to Boston College.

Team USA was on hand, and made an appeaarance on the JumboTron, at the women's semifinals. Then, it traveled to Yale, where it blew out Canada on Saturday.

Saturday

The men's semifinals brought out alumni from all over the country, including some big names. Maryland's biggest fan and SportsCenter host Scott Van Pelt made an appearance at Gillette Stadium for the Terps win over Denver.

Towson men's lacrosse may have squandered a shot at playing in the national title game, but the Tigers certainly made the most of its final four trip on social media. This is just a dose of the action on Towson's twitter, coming right after a Joe Seider goal, or "Seider Bomb."

Sunday

Boston College advanced to its first NCAA national championship game on Sunday, and it got the attention of the team that normally plays at Gillette Stadium.

Salisbury's fans certainly had a lot to cheer about in the Sea Gulls' win over RIT in the Division III title game. This one came almost sychronized.

When you finish an undefeated season with the national championship, you run onto the field with the trophy. It's what you do.

Monday

By now you've seen the celebration that accompanied Maryland's first NCAA championship since 1975. But you might not have noticed a proposal in the midst of the celebration. Trainer Anthony Benyarko asked and she said yes!

Nothing like winning the national championshiop, heading to the airport and taking a chartered flight home. Coach Tillman and his team flew home and arrived in style.

Just like the Patriots did for Boston College, the Maryland/D.C. area sports teams were quick to congratulate Maryland and Salisbury on their respective championship victories.

And just for good measure, Dan Aburn from Inside Lacrosse followed along with a recent trend by slapping "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic to footage of Maryland's title win. As always, it was epic.
