It’s our final award in #BestofLax2022, and you can bet we saved the best for last.

Today, fans can vote for the Best Women’s Player of 2022 — and the nominees are a true celebaration of the sport. Two undefeated national champs (and of whom was a rookie professional champion). An all-time national team legend. A captivating talent we all call “queen.”

The choice is yours.

Here are the nominees for Best Women’s Player. 

BEST WOMEN'S PLAYER

For the larger-than-life women’s star who stood above them all in 2022.

CHARLOTTE NORTH

The queen of the north stands alone at the top of the Division I women’s goals leaderboard, etching her name into the No. 1 spot with 351 goals. North finished her career with a season-high 115 points. She graduated from Boston College as two-time Tewaaraton Award winner and a 2021 national champion. Now a member of the U.S. women’s national team and an Athletes Unlimited professional, North is just getting started.

JAMIE ORTEGA

One of the most automatic scorers in recent memory, Ortega has been an offensive fixture in Chapel Hill her entire career. She graduated on top with an undefeated season and national championship, and she set records along the way. Ortega graduates as the top point-getter in North Carolina history and holds the ACC record for career points, passing lacrosse legend Jen Adams.

TAYLOR MORENO

Taylor Moreno’s Championship Weekend was stuff of legend. Benched briefly while North Carolina was getting throttled by Northwestern in the NCAA semifinals, Moreno returned to ultimately make a win-sealing save. She then helped UNC dethrone Boston College in a one-goal win in the title game. The summer of Moreno was just getting started. As a rookie, the Huntington, N.Y., product was the champion of Athletes Unlimited’s second lacrosse season.

TAYLOR CUMMINGS

Cummings inspired thousands of young girls’ and women’s lacrosse players by winning tournament MVP this summer as a memberr of the U.S. women’s national team that won a gold medal in Towson, Md., at the World Lacrosse Women’s Championship this summer. Cummings’ continued advocacy for women in sports, and more specifically, the coverage of women’s lacrosse, has led to changes in programming on major networks that carry the sport.
