Lacrosse allows for creativity you simply cannot find in many other sports. The nominees in Best of Lax today exemplify that creativity.

There were too many highlight reel goals to count in 2022. Seriously. Lacrosse, at all levels and disciplines, has become an in-season fixture on the SportsCenter Top 10. It was hard to pick what we think are the top four goals of the year, but we did our best. Now it is up to you to determine the winner.

TUCKER DORDEVIC

They call him Tucker Danger. When he has the ball, he is indeed dangerous. The former Syracuse — now Georgetown — All-American scored arguably the flashiest goal of the college lacrosse season, a one-handed, between-the-legs goal that helped Syracuse beat a ranked Duke team. It was an absolutely ridiculous goal that inspired this story by editor-in-chief Matt DaSilva.

JEFF TEAT

Somehow, this went in. During Canada’s win over the U.S. in the gold medal game at The World Games, Jeff Teat played the role of a magician. He received an entry pass from Dhane Smith, but he stumbled as he caught it, falling across the crease from right to left. But no bother. Teat, while falling, whipped his stick behind his head and buried a goal past the left shoulder of Jack Kelly.

DANA DOBBIE

Dana Dobbie, already the winner of the Fountain of Youth Award in Best of Lax 2022, scored one of the best goals of the World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in the very first game of the tournament. Her backhand twizzler from WAY downtown ignited her Canada teammates and showed the world that she still has plenty left in the tank at 38 years old.

TAYLOR CUMMINGS

Shovel shots make for great highlights. Taylor Cummings makes for great highlights. A perfect match. Cummings’ shovel was one of the many highlights for the U.S. women’s national team on its road to a gold medal this summer.
