Boston College, which has advanced to the last two NCAA championship games, is the top-ranked team in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Women’s Preseason Top 20, as published in the January edition of US Lacrosse Magazine.

Reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Sam Apuzzo returns for the Eagles, who also bring back 2017 NCAA championship MVP Kenzie Kent after she redshirted the 2018 season.

Maryland, which fell to BC in last year’s final four, starts 2019 ranked No. 2. The Terps have advanced to championship weekend every season dating back to 2009, winning four NCAA titles during that stretch.

Returning NCAA semifinalist North Carolina and quarterfinalists Florida and Stony Brook round out the top five.

Rankings are compiled by US Lacrosse Magazine staff and contributors, with input from college coaches. The full list of teams appears below.
